Creating a Bristly Brush (1 of 2)

Learn how to create a bristly brush with a juicy organic trail-off. In this first part of the tutorial I start with an Acrylics > Bristle Brush. This is an Impasto brush and you’ll see how I turn off the impasto effect and then adjust the Artist’s Oils settings, accessed with help of the new Advanced Brush Controls feature in Painter X3. Thank you, Audrey, for your inquiry about bristly non-impasto brushes and with good in and out taper, that led to this tutorial.

Jeremy, This was a great tutorial. I learned a lot watching you adjust the new advanced brush controls. One can play with these adjustments on your own but it is wonderful to have someone show you how to start doing things as it means so much more to know how and why you do things. One can then take what you learn from both part 1 and 2 and go from there to create other brushes. dfn Reply
