You do need any art training or technical background to take this class. Whether you are completely new to drawing and painting, or are a practicing artist, you’ll find this workshop an enjoyable, educational and inspiring experience that will equip you with the skills and insights to make the most of your iPad as a fabulous portable art studio!

What To Bring With You to Class
A fully charged iPad and stylus (ideally iPad Pro with Apple Pencil, also fully charged) with the latest iOS and the latest version of the app Procreate 4. For more art app suggestions please see iPad Art Tools. I recommend exploring and experimenting with art apps to find the ones that resonate with your style and workflow.

Accommodation Suggestions for Out of Town Visitors
Here are a few downtown hotels to consider. They are mostly about ten minutes cab ride from my studio. Always ask for their best rates – sometimes they have special rates and discounts. Also I recommend checking to see how much they are on Expedia and then, before booking through Expedia, call the hotel directly and see if they’ll match the rate (you always have more flexibility if you book directly through the hotel rather than a third party like Expedia, and many hotels now will match online pricing). I recommend also first seeing what is available when booking through the app HotelTonight – they have great rooms at great deals – and then seeing if the hotels will match the rates online (they often will). You’ll get more flexibility booking directly through the hotels rather than third parties.
Hotel Rex 1920s style with original artwork, comfortable, good location near Union Square, friendly staff – my top pick
Hotel Griffon Opposite the Ferry Building – try to get a room with a view looking out at the Bay Bridge
The Marker Hotel Formerly Monaco Hotel
Hotel Beresford Above English style pub
Villa Florence Near Union Square
Sir Francis Drake Near Union Square, with it’s own London-style Beefeater doormen
Sheraton PalaceGrand old classic
If you are not familiar with San Francisco please feel free to ask my opinion before you commit to a booking – I can advise you whether it is in a neighborhood I’d recommend or not. Please note that airbnb cancellation and change terms are frequently much more restrictive than booking a regular hotel room, and their prices sometimes not that much different – so I would suggest always seeing what is available in hotels first.
