Enjoy an immersive, flexible hands-on remote learning experience that will equip you with the technical and artistic skills to make the most of your iPad as an amazing art tool! A great way to jump start your digital creativity. You’ll learn the practical, technical and artistic nitty gritty of drawing and painting on the iPad using the premier iPad art app Procreate. You will be creatively empowered with a solid understanding and mastery of the tools. You’ll also learn how to add magical “augmented reality” (AR) pizzazz to your printed art (and even your business cards)!

This video shows examples of my augmented reality artwork, including my recent live event iPad painting, created using the Procreate app, of the launch of the luxury cruise ship Seven Seas Splendor, being viewed with AR app Artivive

In this workshop you’ll use the AR art app Artivive (“bringing art to life”) to add a super cool time-lapse video which magically appears in your art when viewed through a smart device. As explained in The Art Newspaper article on how artists, galleries and museums are experimenting with and using AR: “AR makes actual environments interactive by overlaying objects and sounds that appear to react with the real world. This is the technology behind the worldwide sensation that was Pokémon Go, launched in 2016, and it is also what powers the camera filters on apps such as Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram.”

The Augmenting Cities: A Playful Path to Community symposium opening reception hosted by the co-developers and publishers of Pokémon Go, Niantic, and the Knight Foundation at the Oakland Museum of California.

Thoughts on Mobile Digital Art

Will It be OK If I am a Complete Beginner at Using the iPad? Will It Be OK If I Don’t Have Any Training or Experience in Drawing or Painting?

Yes, absolutely OK to both questions! I explain everything from the ground up and make sure that any jargon is explained clearly. You don’t need to have a background in art. I believe every human on the planet is a creative, expressive being and can have incredible fun and joy drawing and painting, no matter what their background or training is. The wonderful thing about making art on your iPad is that it is easily accessible and everyone can express themselves freely! I teach with encouragement and enthusiasm. The class is fun with an emphasis on playing and exploring and taking risk on your digital canvas. All you need is an open mind and willingness to explore. I am sensitive to the level of my students and teach accordingly. I also include deep learning suitable for the more advanced and experienced students so everyone gets what they need from the workshop.

Can I attend just some sessions? Can I Get a Recording of All Sessions To Look At Later?

Yes and yes! As a PaintboxTV Premium member you are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as you wish. Of course you’ll get more out of the workshop if you stay with the whole course and attend every session. I will build up on material already covered. Recordings will be posted on PaintboxTV afterwards, accessible to paid PaintboxTV Premium Members.

What about other mobile devices besides the iPad?

There is an ever growing list of excellent and powerful mobile art tools and devices. In my classes I teach practical lessons based on my own experience as a professional artist. You learn about the tools I use every day. In my case, the iPad is my main mobile art tool and that is why I am focusing on teaching with it.

Every session will be recorded and those recording will be posted on PaintboxTV for PaintboxTV Premium Members to see. By registering for and attending any session of this remote workshop you are permitting Jeremy to record your voice, your web cam view and any artwork you share during a session.
