The Fascination of Computers

The Portrait Conversation is a portrait in words and paint. The Portrait Conversation seeks answers to three key questions: what makes this person tick; how did they come to follow the path they followed; and what lessons have they learned? My goal as host, artist and conversationalist is to take everyone on a journey with the subject and get to know and understand them at a deeper level than happens with casual conversation. It is an in-depth, inspirational long-form live interview show combined with a cool artistic twist. I paint my subject’s portrait as well as converse with them about their life, path, influences, inspirations and creative process. While the conversation unfolds I typically use my iPad using an Apple Pencil and the Procreate app to sketch them, sharing the process and progress of the portrait with the audience as it evolves. Please note this is not a class or tutorial and the focus is on my subject, not on my art tools and technique. If you’re interested learn how to paint on the iPad please see my courses and consider joining PaintboxTV.

The Portrait Conversation is live cast via a streaming Zoom webinar, starting at 10 am Pacific (1pm East Coast, 6pm UK). Each session normally lasts about 90 minutes. All conversations are recorded and posted here on PaintboxTV. You can access them from The Portrait Conversation tab in the left sidebar menu or by clicking on the subject name in the section above. You will only have to register once to attend any of the Portrait Conversations if you use the unique link that is emailed to you after you register.

Originally from London, I studied drawing, sculpture and print-making at the Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing, Oxford University (while earning a degree in Physics), and subsequently studied at the Vrije Academie in The Hague, The Netherlands. I\'ve been using digital paint since 1991, including every version of Painter. I love teaching and have taught workshops and given presentations all over the world for the last twenty years. I create commissioned fine art paintings and perform live action painting and digital portraiture. I founded PaintboxTV in February 2009. Thank you for being part of this creative community!
