5. Interaction

Besides interacting via your voice and video, you’ll also find three other ways to interact with others and communicate with the meeting host.

  • Chat

The Chat icon in the bottom icons bar allows you to type messages to everyone and also privately to each other or to the host, or panelists if in a webinar.

  • Emoticons

In a Zoom Meeting the Participants icon opens the Participants List that allows you to add non-verbal feedback “emoticons” next to your name in the Participants window. These emoticons include a hand up, yes, no, go slower and go faster icons. In the “..More” pop-up you’ll also find more feedback icons for things like thumbs up and down, clapping, taking a break (cute mug icon!) and stepping away (clock icon). Please note that this option is not available to attendees of a Zoom Webinar, such as my Portrait Conversations.

  • Reactions

The Reactions icon, which is in the main dock along the bottom, allows you to add a clapping hands or thumbs up icon into your video window. Please note that this option is not available to attendees of a Zoom Webinar, such as my Portrait Conversations.
