I was inspired by Painter artist Justin Buus to explore applying custom patterns with the pattern chalk variant. In this video you will learn about how to paint seamlessly with patterns using a combination of the two pattern chalk jitter variants and three custom patterns that I created for Painter X3 and that are included in the default install. You’ll see the very handy shortcut Shift+Spacebar+drag applied to seamlessly scroll with any image defined as a pattern and thus be able to view and adjust unwanted visible seams. If you’re interested in a written step-by-step set of instructions to accompany this video and the part 2 of this same video tutorial, then please also see my PainterFactory blog post titled “Painting with Patterns”.
