Introduction to Adobe Fresco
First Painting

14m 12s

This tutorial shares the process of my first painting created using the Adobe Fresco app for drawing and painting on the iPad. The painting sketch was created from life sitting in Gus’s Community Market in San Francisco around the corner from my studio. I used the iPad pro 12.9 (3rd gen), Apple Pencil 2, and Adobe Fresco. You’ll see how I open a new document, import a background, organize my layers, choose a brush and select color. I show examples of the Pixel and Live Brushes, and finish off by exporting the completed artwork as a JPG onto the camera Roll, a PSD (with layers) into Procreate (useful if you wish to mix painting techniques across both apps) and a Timelapse Video mp4 also onto my camera Roll. I mention some tutorials on Adobe that are worth checking out.

Originally from London, I studied drawing, sculpture and print-making at the Ruskin School of Fine Art and Drawing, Oxford University (while earning a degree in Physics), and subsequently studied at the Vrije Academie in The Hague, The Netherlands. I\'ve been using digital paint since 1991, including every version of Painter. I love teaching and have taught workshops and given presentations all over the world for the last twenty years. I create commissioned fine art paintings and perform live action painting and digital portraiture. I founded PaintboxTV in February 2009. Thank you for being part of this creative community!
