Enjoy an immersive, flexible remote learning experience that will equip you with the technical and artistic skills to make the most of your iPad as an amazing art tool, and how to add magical “augmented reality” (AR) pizzazz to your printed art!! This online course is a great way to jump start your digital creativity. You’ll learn the practical, technical and artistic nitty gritty of painting on the iPad using the premier iPad art app Procreate. You will be creatively empowered with a solid understanding and mastery of the tools.

Make a breakthrough on many levels: break through the tech challenge of Procreate and iPad; break through the artistic and creative barriers to loosen up your brush strokes and color; and break through the reality of the image plane to create a new dimension of Augmented Reality (AR) with a virtual video overlay.

This sequential course over six weeks will build on material covered each week and will include homework assignments. There will be a virtual exhibition, hosted on PaintboxTV, of student work at the end of the course. Please note the registration for participation in the live sessions has closed. The recordings of all the sessions will be posted here on PaintboxTV for PaintboxTV Premium Members to access. Click on the links above in the Syllabus Summary to see the recordings. These recordings are intended just as review reference, not as tight edited tutorials, and will include banter and chatter between the students and the instructor. If you are not currently a member of PaintboxTV and you’d like to have access to these recordings then please click here to join.

Thoughts on Mobile Digital Art

Will It be OK If I am a Complete Beginner at Using the iPad? Will It Be OK If I Don’t Have Any Training or Experience in Drawing or Painting?

Yes, absolutely OK to both questions! I explain everything from the ground up and make sure that any jargon is explained clearly. You don’t need to have a background in art. I believe every human on the planet is a creative, expressive being and can have incredible fun and joy drawing and painting, no matter what their background or training is. The wonderful thing about making art on your iPad is that it is easily accessible and everyone can express themselves freely! I teach with encouragement and enthusiasm. The class is fun with an emphasis on playing and exploring and taking risk on your digital canvas. All you need is an open mind and willingness to explore. I am sensitive to the level of my students and teach accordingly. I also include deep learning suitable for the more advanced and experienced students so everyone gets what they need from the workshop.

Can I attend just some sessions? Can I Get a Recording of All Sessions To Look At Later?

Yes and yes! As a PaintboxTV Premium member you are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as you wish. Of course you’ll get more out of the workshop if you stay with the whole course and attend every session. I will build up on material already covered. Recordings will be posted on PaintboxTV afterwards, accessible to paid PaintboxTV Premium Members.

What about other mobile devices besides the iPad?

There is an ever growing list of excellent and powerful mobile art tools and devices. In my classes I teach practical lessons based on my own experience as a professional artist. You learn about the tools I use every day. In my case, the iPad is my main mobile art tool and that is why I am focusing on teaching with it.

Release

Every session will be recorded and those recording will be posted on PaintboxTV for PaintboxTV Premium Members to see. By registering for and attending any session of this remote workshop you are permitting Jeremy to record your voice, your web cam view and any artwork you share during a session.
